How the poker outs calculator works
On the flop you have seen five cards, so 47 are unknown; on the turn, 46. The chance of missing is the number of ways to draw only non-outs divided by all draws, and hitting is one minus that. The rule of 4 and 2 approximates it: outs × 4 with two cards to come, outs × 2 with one. To call a bet you need equity of at least bet ÷ (pot after the bet + your call).
Formula: P(hit) = 1 − C(unseen − outs, cards) ÷ C(unseen, cards); equity needed = bet ÷ (pot + bet)

FAQFrequently asked questions
What counts as an out?
Any unseen card that would make your hand the best one. Be honest: a flush draw has nine outs, an open-ended straight draw eight, a gutshot four — and discount outs that would also improve an opponent.
How accurate is the rule of 4 and 2?
Within a percentage point or two for up to about ten outs on the flop; it over-estimates big draws (15 outs gives 60% by the rule, 54% in reality).
What are pot odds?
The price you are being offered: the bet you must call against the total pot you can win. If your chance of hitting is higher than the share your call adds to the pot, calling is profitable in the long run.
Do implied odds change the answer?
Yes — if you expect to win more on later streets when you hit, you can call with slightly worse immediate odds. The calculator gives the straight pot odds; implied odds are a judgement.
