Overview
GlobalCalc is designed to minimise data collection. You do not need an account. Calculator arithmetic runs in your browser, and GlobalCalc does not store the figures you enter as part of providing a calculation. The site still uses hosting, security and measurement services described below.
What data we collect
Information handled during a visit can include:
- Connection and security data — ordinary request information such as IP address, requested URL, browser details and timestamps is processed by Cloudflare when it delivers and protects the site.
- Aggregate site measurement — the site includes Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- Optional analytics data — Google Analytics is loaded only after you switch on “Count my visit” and save that choice. It may process page, device, interaction and online-identifier data. Google advertising services and Microsoft Clarity are currently disabled.
- Calculator ratings — a calculator page requests its aggregate rating so it can display the current average. If you choose a star, GlobalCalc receives that page path and score. The Worker stores the aggregate sum and count plus a rolling record of the 50 most recent submissions containing page path, score and submission time.
- Visitor feedback — if you choose “Send feedback”, GlobalCalc receives the feedback type, message, page path shown in the form, optional reply email, server-generated reference and submission time.
- Browser preferences — theme and optional-analytics choices use local browser storage. Region choice uses session storage. After you submit a calculator rating, a page-specific browser preference remembers that you rated it.
Feedback and direct email
The in-site feedback form stores a submitted message in GlobalCalc’s Cloudflare KV storage for up to 90 days so it can be reviewed in the protected administration area. The stored record contains only the feedback type, the page pathname shown to you, your message, an optional reply email, a reference and the submission time. The record does not store your raw IP address, and it does not attach a query string, calculator inputs, results, postcode, analytics identifier or advertising identifier. The form works whether optional analytics is allowed or kept off.
Please do not include real personal, financial or health information in the message. If you provide an email address, GlobalCalc will use it only to reply about that feedback. Records expire automatically after 90 days. You can request earlier deletion by emailing hello@globalcalc.net and including the feedback reference where possible.
If you choose the separate “Email us directly” option, your own email app and the relevant email providers handle the message. Direct email normally includes your sender address and any signature configured in your email account.
Your calculations
Calculator arithmetic is performed within your browser. The calculator code does not submit your figures to GlobalCalc to obtain a result, and GlobalCalc does not store those figures as calculator records. If you allow optional third-party services, those providers can process page and interaction data according to their own technologies and policies; do not treat the optional-services setting as a guarantee that every item visible on a page is outside their processing.
Analytics
The site includes Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate site measurement. This service is separate from the optional-analytics choice because Cloudflare also delivers and protects the site.
Google Analytics is the only switch currently available in the privacy centre. Its script is not inserted before you switch on “Count my visit” and choose “Save my choice”, and it remains off after you choose “All off, thanks”. Merely changing the draft switch does not load Google Analytics. Google consent signals default analytics and advertising storage to denied. Allowing changes analytics storage to granted while advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied. Google signals and advertising-personalisation signals are also disabled in the site configuration.
Google advertising services and Microsoft Clarity are currently disabled for every choice pending a verified compliant consent solution and legal approval. You can change the Google Analytics choice at any time with the “Privacy choices” button.
Show me a local sponsor is not available and remains off. GlobalCalc does not currently show paid local sponsors, collect a postcode for sponsor matching, or treat the analytics choice as sponsor permission. If introduced, local sponsorship will require a separate optional choice and a separate release.
Remember my work is not available and remains off. GlobalCalc does not currently save calculator inputs or pinned calculators. The privacy centre displays this future feature as unavailable until its on-device storage, view and delete controls have been built and documented.
GlobalCalc’s deployed HTML no longer contains Google Analytics or advertising preconnect or DNS-prefetch hints. The sitewide publication check blocks those hints from returning before a visitor choice.
The calculator rating widget requests aggregate rating totals from GlobalCalc. It does not send the former automatic page-view beacon. A score is submitted only when you choose a rating.
Cookies & browser storage
GlobalCalc uses browser storage for these site preferences:
- Theme preference (e.g., Auto, Dark, Light, Accessible) — stored as
gc-themein local storage and, on some pages, mirrored in session storage. - Region preference (e.g., Australia) — stored as
gc-regionin session storage. - Recent results in this tab — on calculator pages that show a "Your recent results" list, the names and last results of the calculators you used in the current tab are stored as
gc-recentin session storage, which the browser discards when the tab closes; the list's Clear button removes it sooner. - Optional-analytics choice (allow or decline, preference version and update time) — stored as
gc-privacy-choicein local storage. - Submitted rating preference — stored as
gc-rated:<page-path>in local storage after you choose a star, so the same browser does not offer another rating for that page.
If you allow optional analytics, Google Analytics may use cookies, local storage or similar identifiers under the granted analytics-storage signal. Advertising-related consent signals remain denied, and the Google advertising and Microsoft Clarity scripts remain disabled. No local-sponsor, postcode, remembered-calculation or pinned-calculator preference is created by the privacy centre. You can change your choice with “Privacy choices” or clear preferences through your browser's site-data controls and by closing the tab for session storage. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Third-party services
GlobalCalc uses the following third-party services:
- Cloudflare edge services & CDN — hosting, content delivery and security. Cloudflare processes standard HTTP request metadata. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare Workers and KV — serves the site’s own API endpoints and retains submitted visitor feedback for up to 90 days.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — aggregate site measurement included independently of the optional-services choice.
- Google Analytics — optional site analytics, loaded only after allow. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense and Google Publisher Tag / Google Ad Manager — currently disabled pending a verified compliant consent platform and legal approval.
- Microsoft Clarity — currently disabled pending a verified compliant consent solution and legal approval. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
While paid advertising is disabled, GlobalCalc may still show first-party recommendations linking to other GlobalCalc calculators. Those house recommendations do not load third-party advertising scripts.
Your rights
You can withdraw the optional Google Analytics choice at any time with the “Privacy choices” button. The page reloads when you withdraw a prior allow choice so that optional scripts remain unloaded. “Decide later” saves nothing and leaves Google Analytics denied. You can also clear GlobalCalc site data in your browser.
If you have contacted us and want to ask about that correspondence, or want to make a privacy request, email hello@globalcalc.net. Rights and response obligations vary by location.
