Subtract what has been completed and transferred from what the programme requires; that is the credit still to earn. Divide by the credits taken each term and round up, because a term with two credits in it is still a term.
The last row shows the load per term that would finish a term earlier, which is the practical question behind most of these calculations.
Formula: remaining = required − completed − transferred; terms = ⌈remaining ÷ credits per term⌉; years = terms ÷ terms per year

FAQFrequently asked questions
Why round up?
A degree is finished at the end of a term, not part-way through it. If 75 credits remain at 15 a term, that is exactly five terms; at 16 a term it is 4.7, which is still five terms with a light last one. The final-term row shows how light.
What about required courses that are only offered once a year?
Sequencing can add terms that the arithmetic does not see: a prerequisite chain or a course offered only in one term can force a gap. Treat the result as the minimum and check the programme map for those.
Do transferred credits count the same as completed ones?
Toward the total, yes — both reduce what remains. Some programmes cap transfer credit or exclude it from residency requirements; if yours does, enter only the credits the programme accepts.
How many credits can I take per term?
Programmes set a normal load and a maximum, and overloads often need approval. Entering the maximum shows the fastest finish; the "one term sooner" row shows whether a modest increase is enough.
