How the weighted grade calculator works
A course grade is a weighted average of its assessments. Each mark counts in proportion to its weight, so a 50% exam moves the grade five times as much as a 10% quiz scored equally well.
The contribution column is the useful one. It shows the percentage points each assessment actually put into your final grade, which is usually more informative than the mark itself — a 95% on something worth 5% contributes 4.75 points, while a 60% on something worth 40% contributes 24.
If the weights do not sum to 100%, the page says so and normalises rather than silently returning a wrong number.
Formula: grade = Σ(mark × weight) / Σ weight

How do I calculate a weighted grade?

What if my weights do not add to 100?
The grade is normalized over what you entered, and the page tells you. That is the right answer partway through a course.

Which assessment should I focus on?
The one with the most weight still ahead of you — that is where the remaining variance is.
Does this handle dropped lowest scores?
No. If your course drops the lowest mark, leave it out of the lists.
