How the run rate calculator works
Current run rate is runs divided by overs faced. Required run rate is the runs still needed divided by the overs remaining, and the gap between the two is the honest picture of a chase: a side needing 8.5 an over while scoring 5.2 is behind whatever the wickets column says.
Overs are counted in balls, not tenths — 10.3 overs means ten overs and three balls, or 63 balls. Treating it as 10.3 decimal overs is the commonest error and makes every rate slightly wrong.
Formula: run rate = runs ÷ overs; required = runs needed ÷ overs remaining

No. Interrupted matches use the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, which resets the target from a published table rather than a simple rate.
